WORK DESIGN

Read client interviews on why environmental branding makes an impact. It’s a guest contribution I had the opportunity to write,

During my time as Executive Director with the River North Business Association, working with Jon was a pleasure. He was instrumental in helping our Marketing Committee to rethink our copy-writing, blogs and email marketing. Specifically, he was instrumental in shaping the email newsletter, including a graphic design overhaul (that received positive feedback from members, subscribers and fellow board members) while increasing our open rate to an average of over 30%. Jon was an organized committee chairman and he did a great job engaging potential new members, including bringing many prospective members to events. He made a positive impact on the organization. Jon is a good person to know and collaborate with!

recent guest column

The display graphics firm I work for, called Cushing, was invited to write a monthly column for Wide Format Impressions. I was honored to write the introductory post!

During my time at Discovery Place, we had opportunities to write articles we purchased advertisements in.

It was fun to write and I learned tons about the benefits of summer camps.

With two kids, the information should come in handy.

Before I moved to Chicago, I worked in the marketing department of a science museum called Discovery Place (which included Charlotte Nature Museum).

Responsibilities included media planning, finding promotional partners and occasionally writing columns for local homeowners associations.

Here is one of those articles...

Cushing’s newsletters are great. We enjoy reading them at Your Design Source :) And once, when we were tasked with coming up with some art for a client’s newsletter, we pulled some newsletters we liked for brainstorming, and some samples from Cushing were in our pile! We like the format. Everything is arranged vertically, so you simply scroll down (no side bars!) and because each section is short, to-the-point, and has an image with large, clear type, it’s engaging and easy to read. Lots of newsletter e-mails get thrown away, but we read Cushing’s! You guys do a great job!

ask and you shall receive ... google reviews

I contributed an article to the Business Marketing Association blog about ways to personally ask for Google Reviews.

As the series continued into 2019, I interviewed a freelance designer named Travis Gerhart for Self Employment in the Arts. Excited to write the next one!

Jon served as the Website Chair for the 2018-2019 chapter year for the Southwest Florida chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association. During his time with the chapter I found Jon not only to be eager to help wherever he could, he helped our chapter move several website initiatives forward. Jon focused on improving engagement with our site and spearheaded our research into improving SEO on targeted pages. Jon is wonderful to work with and helped increase our chapter’s knowledge and expertise in this arena.
